Question:

Committee question about Treasurer

I am a member of a Working Mans Club who are in dire straits. They haven't had a treasurer for the longest time and have suffered greatly. There is a general apathy about the place, and nobody seems to want to do anything. The Secretary asked me to be Treasurer and I have agreed. Some members have complained that a Treasurer needs to be elected on. Is there anything we can do? Like acting Treasurer until the AGM etc?

  1. It all depends on your constitution, but usually there is provision for members to be co-opted on to the committee to fill a vacancy. That person would then stand formally at the AGM and have his position ratified then.
