Question:

Common Seasonique side effects?

I was on Ortho Cyclen for a year (I took Ortho Tri Cyclen for about 6 years before that) and recently switched to Seasonique so that I could only have 4 periods a year. I never skip pills and take them within the same hour and a half every day (with the exception of 2 days when I had to take them 2 hours earlier). Since Ortho Cyclen has a higher dosage or hormones in it than Seasonique, am I still getting the same protection since I am still taking the pills as directed? I'm also on week 5 of the pills and did notice some minor spotting about 2 weeks ago, which I do know is normal, but most recently I've had bloating, gas and some cramping. Is that normal? Are there any other side effects I should expect on this pill? Thanks!

  1. Your stomach problems are probably from the pill. I had those symptoms the whole time i was on the pill ( 15 yrs. ). They actually got worse as time went on. I also had headaches, depression, and felt really tired all the time when i was on it. I hated the way it made me feel, but i was on it for medical reasons, so i had to keep taking it. Maybe you'll have better luck, remember, everyone reacts different to hormones, so it's hard to say what side effects each person will experience. Good Luck :-)
