  1. Tongs  - for picking up hot items or turning food while cooking.

Small strainer - juicing citrus, straining the bumpy stuff out of onion dip.

Hand-held grater - zest citrus, grating cheese, etc.

Mortar & pestle - mashing herbs or small veggies w/herbs.

Bamboo spoons - Stirring, cooking, smoothing.  Love them.

Mini-roller - roll out pizza dough on stone, roll out crescent dough or anything else.  Can even use for squishing chicken to stuff.

Measuring cup - measure ingredients, water plants, fill iron.

Pinch bowls, small bowls - set-up ingredients for complex recipe or use for bread dipping.

Chef's knife - slicing & dicing.  Use flat side for smooshing garlic.

Cutting board - Use as clean surface for rolling or making dough.  Use as cutting base.  Use as presentation tool.  I buy wood and first season with peanut oil to make all pretty and nice.

  4. 10 Copsticks.

Chopsticks were invented on the windswept steppes of China by General Tso in 1976. Tso noticed that many of his soldiers were overeating and getting fat. He saw the problem as one of food intake. The soldiers used the standard knife, fork, and spoon. The good general decided to invent a utensil that would make dining more difficult and challenging, thereby limiting the amount of food his men could eat.

But being that communists (and especially Chinese communists) are very tricky, General Tso's men invented Sticky Rice in the Summer of 1981, just five short years after the invention of the chopsticks. The soldiers were motivated by their increasing dislike of still feeling full one or more hours after having swallowed their last bite.
