  1. I assume you mean the modern Iraqi security forces.

The iraqi army uses AK47s. I imagine that the machineguns varies between RPKs and surplus US and soviet equipment. The handguns are most likely makerovs, berettas and glocks. I've seen pictures of them using PKMs too.

  2. AK, and AKS, 47. Maybe even the AK (or AKS) 74.

    M16 (probably A2 now)

MG's can be M2 .50 cal, PKM, and possibly the RPK.

    The RPG7 is a staple anti-tank weapon.

    Vehicles: M35A2 2 1/2 ton truck. M113 APC.

  3. RPG

    AK-47

  4. It's a good idea to know in depth something that your writing a book about, not coming to Yahoo Answers to get information.  The IA used AK-47's but are actually transitioning to M-16's for many of them.  They signed a contract this year purchasing them.  They don't use IED's or RPG's like others have said.  Their common weapons load out is similar to ours.  You'll have a few individuals trained on mortar use as well as your standard tanks and APC's.

  5. The AK-47, 7.62x39mm rifle

    The RPG (rocket propelled grenade)

    The IED (Improvised explosive device)

    Markarov 9x19mm pistols

  6. You are writing a war novel, how quaint. Why not enlist, get some real time info , THEN write your novel.
