  1. in theory yes. in practice, man's greediness for riches prevailed.

  2. In reality the world has yet to see Communism done as Marx wrote. So, people saying "Theory works but doesn't work in real life", have no basis, since they have never seen true Communism in action.

Castro, to be fair to him, is not rich. The rumours of a Swiss bank account were completely falsified. He's still a suppressive lunatic, but hey, nobodies' perfect.

  3. im from cuba i was born there... i know ppl give goats,sheeps,chickens,etc.. to become doctors to teachers to pass a grade, test w.e and its true fidel robbed the rich and gave nothing to the poor :S lmao sux i know

  4. most communist countries the people are poor and have little chance to change their situations.

  5. They're run by one political party whose inner members usually accumulate all the wealth. So generally, most of the country is poor, with a small, very rich upper class. However, in order to keep up the charade, most communist leaders hide much of their wealth from public eyes. Like Fidel Castro. The usual media censorship in communist countries help with this.

  6. In theory, yes. In practice never.

  7. They like to wear red..

  8. yep the idea is everyone works according to his/her ability, but gets paid according to thier needs. the upside is that everyone gets what they need: food, shelter, healthcare, education, etc. the downside is, someone always gets greedy and wants more.

in my opinion, it really isn't a bad idea on paper. but it just doesn't work out right in real life.

  9. I've visited a lot of post communist countries.  People seemed to explain things thoroughly.

When you needed a bathing suit, you would go to the store and there would be just one kind of bathing suit.  You just got your one basic thing like everyone else.

No matter what your job was, you would return to your flat that was identical to everyone else's (and the ones I saw were tiny.)

People explained it to me like this: they were like your pet dog.  They got food and shelter, but they are not actually free.

  10. Since Communist governments are based on a very strong central government that controls all of the country's resources, the structure of wealth and power is a very flat pyramid - very wealthy for the chosen few at the top, very poor for most at the bottom. The closer you are to the top, which is normally the head of the party, the richer and more powerful you are. Similar to wealth and power, information is also tightly controlled so the wealthy do not advertise their wealth and the poor do not get to hear about their hardships. All of the communist leaders are very rich, the main threat to their wealth is people realizing that they don't have to put up with it.

I have family in Cuba. There is no justice to speak of, there are shortages of everything all the time and there are local spies everywhere - they are called "Neighborhood Committees" which report up the chain of command weekly reports on what the people in the neighborhood are doing.  The way the law is written, it criminalizes many activities under civil penalties. Because the law is ridiculous and ambiguous, it is not applied unless you anger somebody in the chain of command. The further up you are in the chain of command, the more "favors" people do for you.

  11. I don't know about every country but the Philippines was practically Communist when their president Marcos stole billion from the government. That was in the 1970's. The Philippines is still trying to pay off that debt and the $28 billion in interest from it.

Luckily, the Philippines has been democratic for the last 15 years and things are changing for the better.

  12. Communism is the political theory that everyone shares everything.  The government owns all farms and businesses and divides things out amongst the people.  No one needs to make more than a small amount of money for a few luxuries.

But, as everyone else has pointed out, it never really works that way.  It does not take into account human nature and the inequality of input vs. the equality of output.

You should next ask about Capitolism.  It too has lots of problems.

  13. I know for an absolute fact that no nation has ever taxed itself to prosperity. Never. Communist countries have 100% tax.
