Community Service Ideas for high school?

I am going into ninth grade. I am 14 years old and I need to do community service. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Go to your old elementary or middle school and work in the office for the hours.

P.S.-Be friends with the main secratary so you can get more hours.

My daughter  particapates in volunteer for our local special olympics,  she is going in 10th grade and has to have community service hours, you could be a cheer leader help with games, all sorts of stuff.

Ask the local library if they would let you set out a recycle bin. One group made $25,000 last year collecting stuff that could be recycled.  They gave some to the library to say thanks for letting them use the parking lot space for the container.  .

A friend's son started a program at a local nursing home to teach the internet to seniors. He ran the program for the 4 years he was in HS and it helped him when applying for college....good luck!

If you wait till school starts, your high school should have opportunities to do so. I was in high school 2 years ago and I had tons of clubs and other opportunities to do volunteering. I racked up some 300 hours of volunteering in 4 years of high school. Otherwise tutoring center, library (great volunteering place), some shelter, you can do can and food drive. During Haloween, instead of going door to door collecting candy, I collect canned food and give it to the fire station who then donate the cans to a shelter. There are tons of opportunities you will come across, but the best thing to do is see around the community of whats missing or wrong with it and try to fix it.

Depending on where you live, you can get in touch with a local organization that has listings of the various charities in your area that need help.  In San Diego, we have something called VolunteerSanDiego to contact for information.
