Community help!!!!!!!!!!!?

i live in the "D" and recently i thought we were going to have to build an ark the last month we've had rain and rain and rain and raining! now my lawn is loaded with this broad blade grass , especially near the edges. is this "crabgrass"? and what causes it (this on slaught of this growth?) and how do i rid my lawn of it???????

It does sound like crabgrass.  It is an annual grassy weed that re-seeds itself each year.  The reason that it is located near the edges is because that is usually where the lawn is thin.  A good thick lawn is the best defense for crabgrass, but you can also apply a pre-emergent crabgrass control in the spring time to help prevent the seeds from germinating.  As for taking care of it right now... use RoundUp.  But be very careful to only spray the spots that you want dead because it will kill the lawn too.  After the crabgrass is dead, rake up the spots and overseed with whatever type of grass you currently have in your lawn.
