does anyone know jobs that pays that will also count as community service towards college application?

  1. There are low-level part-time administrative jobs in the nonprofit sector. These are advertised in your local newspaper, on CraigsList, and via the organization's own web site. You can also call organizations that you are particularly interested in, and say you are looking for part-time work, and to whom you could send a resume.

    Such work is NOT volunteering, as you will be paid. However, you may talk about it as community service on applications if you can express that your motivation was to support a particular organization or sector of the community, why you wanted to provide this support, what you learned about this particular issue/cause, how this experience changed you, etc. Colleges are interested in how you verbalize about the experience, not just "Hey, I did 40 hours at such and such."
