I am interviewing for a position located in reston--I live in Arlington and do not intend on moving anytime soon. what is the commute like? I would have to take public transport--which means the metro, and then two buses. What do you suggest?

  1. I used to live in Arlington and commute to Fairfax. It was much better than going into DC, but still a lot of traffic. I had to take public transit a few times due to car problems and it took a VERY long time due to the fact that during rush hour you can never depend on the bus schedules. It normally took me 30 minutes to make the drive, but the times I took the metro and only 1 bus it took 1 1/2 hours. Although getting anywhere in that area is a headache, taking buses is very frusterating.

  2. Sweet! I used to live in Leesburg and commuted to Crystal City. The nice part of the trip is that you will be going against the herd... everyone is commuting IN in the morning and OUT in the PM.  I am not sure about the buses, but I rode Metro to the end of the Orange Line.

Personally, I read and wrote during the commute. You should have plenty of room on the train, at least.

    Good luck.
