Traffic from Orange County to San Bernardino?

Moving out to California within a month or so for work and was just curious about the drive between Orange County to San Bernardino area. I know traffic is horrible and this distance is more than most would want to deal with, but just curious about it anyways. If I were to do the morning commute around 5:30am, what kinda time am i looking at? I know the commute home is always going to be different and never quick.

Thanks

  1. Traffic will stop by 6:am so be on the road before 5:30am. Coming home you are screwed, it will jam all day. It depends where in the O.C.. but anywhere in LA is an hour plus. On a good day.

  2. Don't do it, trust me. The closest place in OC would probably be places like Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills but it's still going to be a horrible drive.  Avoid the 91 at all costs, I hate that freeway with my life.

  3. I have never heard of this.  However, people do it the other way around, commuting from the Inland Empire to OC, since home values are lower in the Inland Empire.   I never understood it.  OC is a suburb, and San Bernardino is a suburb.  They are roughly comparable in terms of character, schools, etc.  Why commute from one suburb to another?

The commute will be bad.  Try to use metrolink if you can.  If not, then get a home in San Bernardino.

  4. Avoid driving, listen to Mobile Mark, try Metrolink commuter rail or OCTA (Route 794) both of which provide public transportation between Orange county and San Bernardino county. Good luck!

  5. your travel time would be from 1 hr to 1.5 hrs.......going home would be a few minutes more depending on your route of travel.

  6. you might look into public transit

Metrolink has several trains a day from Orange county into

the Inland empire (most of them either end in San Bernadino

    or Riverside
