I need to travel from downtown Boston (Beacon Hill/Government Center area) to Belmont (specifically White St.) I would like to use the commuter rail to get back and forth instead of a taxi or bus. So what train would i use and what stations would i be using?

  1. from government center take the blue line 1 stop to State Street and transfer to the Oak Grove Orange line train to North Station go into North Station and catch the Fitchburg/ South Acton Train to either Belmont Center or Waverley. Otherwise from Government Center Take the Green line C train going right to North Station it is the last stop for that train and go upstairs to the North Station/ TD Banknorth Garden Train Terminal And Get a schedule for the Fitchburg/ South Acton Train and Look at the screen for the departing fitchburg/ south acton train for the track and time

  2. You would take the Fitchburg line from North Station.  You would get off at either Belmont Center or Waverly (check a map and see which station is closer).

  3. From Government Center, hop on the green line towards Lechmere, and then get off at North Station, and go upstairs to the station.  From there, take the Fitchburg line to Belmont, but you might want to check online at www.mbta.com because not all Fitchburg trains will stop there.
