  1. While I do have a car, I find it relaxing & cost saving to use public transit to/from work whenever possible. The buses do tend to take a bit longer but allow for time to read and avoid the stress of traffic.

  2. I commute thirty miles to work.  I use my car because I work shifts, so there is insufficient public transport available.

I wouldn't move closer to work, because I live in a nice area but work in a c**p one.

It is a bit of a pain, as it adds about 45 to 60 minutes on to each end of the day.  I just put up with it.

Certain councils are considering introducing parking charges for companies.  This would peeve me, as I have no choice but to drive.

  3. my commute is 32 miles. i drive from the suburbs to downtown.

i drive my own car - 95% of it is on the freeway

without traffic it takes me 35 minutes, with traffic anywhere between 45 - 55 minutes. i work at 10AM in the morning so half the times theres still traffic the other half no traffic.

i live in a great neighborhood with great schools, so i deal with the tradeoff.  if i didnt have to worry about schools or neighborhood for my child then i wouldnt hesitate for a second to move downtown closer to my job.

  4. I commute 2 hrs each way by train - horrendous doesn't even cover it

  5. I travel from Kent to London and it's about 2 hours each way by train.

I hate it to be honest, my first train is 6.34 am so it's tiring.

  6. I cycle 3 miles to work it takes about 20 minutes I love it as the roads where i live ( south bucks) are really congested and i am able to miss all the traffic by going through a large park and down alleys. I could never commute i only get up 45 minutes before i start work. It also doest matter what time i leave work as i always get home in 20 minuets because i can never get stuck in traffic. I admit it is rubbish when it rains. But the fact that i get to work and back for free and it gives me some much needed exercise i can put up with getting a bit wet from time to time.

  7. My partner commutes 12 miles each way to work.  We live just outside Caerphilly and he works in Cardiff.

He either drives or gets a lift with a colleague. Public transport isn't an option because it doesn't run directly enough and he'd need to change buses several times or get a bus - then a train - then a bus, it would just be more expensive than driving and would take him too long - he starts work at 7am and he'd have to leave the house at about 5.30am to get there in time on public transport and avoid any risk of being late.  I don't think the first bus runs that early up here.

I would like to move to Cardiff but we just cannot afford the house prices or rents down there.  We moved out of Cardiff up into the valleys because we just couldn't afford to live there anymore.

  8. I commute in my car by myself about 11 miles one way. Most days I enjoy the drive.

  9. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours at night - combination of walking and bus.

Sometimes it can be a real nuisance, especially if some inconsiderate motorist has parked their vehicle on the only bit of pavement for miles (out where I live there is pavement on one side of some roads and none at all on others), it's pouring with rain and tractors have been on the road leaving a trail of mud ecerywhere.

9 miles door to door (if going in a straight line).

I HAVE to use public transport (as I can not afford to run a car/van in the first place, and a medical condition means I'm not safe to drive)

  10. I drive to and from work on the M25 and M1.

25 miles each way, normally takes about 1/1.5 hours each way.

It's a nightmare, but I love my job so I do it.
