Question:

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb?

I just got two new lamps and they say to use 60 watt bulbs or less.

I decided to use my compact fluorescent light bulbs which are 26 watts.

On the package it says that the 26 watts is equal to the 100 watts of a regular bulb.

26 watts = 100 watts

My question is do i go by the 26 watts or 100 watts?

I really dont want to mess up my new lamps.......

  1. 26. That's the power consumption of the compact fluorescents. The 100 is the illumination equivalent of an incandescent bulb. Presumably the lamp manufacturer's limit is aimed at keeping down the heat. Your 26 watt CFs give off less heat than 60 watt incandescents
