i am looking for a new camera, i quite fancy a digital slr, but they are just too big to carry around and a compact camera would be more practical i was just wondering if there were any smaller digital slr's of reasonable price. what about the canon g9?,i know this isnt a slr, but what sort of photos would it produce, i really love the photos slr's produce

  1. the new canon eos xs/1000D has live view function like the compact digital camera..

in my own opinion.save more a little and spend it with a digital slr.

    good luck..

here's the review of canon xs/1000D

  2. i have a canon rebel xt and it really isn't that bad carrying around. if you don't want the strap around the back of your neck get a shouloer carrying case. it is worth it to have a dslr.

    Under £100.

    Cant go wrong.

  4. Actually the G9 is a camera I'm looking at to use as my carry around.

I see it as a cross of a compact and DSLR. It has the green auto box, but it has the ISO dial, limited aperture, shutter speed control white balance control and it has a hotshoe so I can attach my 430ex flash to it.

There are limitations. I've read ISO above 400 is poor and that would be a problem in low light, unless I bring my flash along.

It is bulkier than the other compact and does cost around $500. That's close to a body only price of the older DSLR camera.

  5. You should get the olympus e410

it's the smallest DSLR in the world at the moment.

it takes the form factor of a 35mm film SLR
