Companies that fix Credit Scores and False Items?

I have heard that there are legitimate companies that will work to get the errors off your credit score... does any one know the name of a legitimate company. I have tried to do the dispute process through Transunion's site but they still will not come off.

Great question. The Fair Credit Reporting Act makes certain requirements on credit reporting companies like TransUnion when it comes to correcting errors.

First of all, doing an online dipute is no good.  It is a waste of time.  You can fix your own credit score and remove false items for just the cost of postage and some time writing.

It is not hard to do, why pay somone else lots of money (money you could use to pay off debts) to do it for you.

Avoid credit repair agencies that charge a fee to improve your FICO score by removing negative, but accurate, information from your credit reports. No one can force credit reporting agencies or lenders to remove accurate information from a credit report. Credit repair companies often take your money without delivering what they promise, or provide only temporary improvements of your score, sometimes by removing accurate information that will reappear later.
