Question

My step son just finished two years in TDC and is having a horrible time fniding a job. He's willing to work just about anywhere and has an incredible work ethic. He's applied to everying from stock boy to car hop and he's telling the truth about his conviction, but nothing is moving for him. He's running out of money and really wants to stay close to his dad and I. Any hints, links, contacts would be appreciated.

Best of luck to your step son.  If you are on the South / Southwest side of town, and your son has transportation, I would suggest coming down to Freeport.  There is a company called Excel who contracts Material Handling employees for a local chemical plant.  They hire laborers, start only about $11 an hour, but they will hire TDC "graduates".  He can find out about it through the Texas Workforce Commission.  It is rotating shift work, 12-hour shifts, day and night (varies) and they work about 16 days a month.
