  1. The company your work for is not liable for the damages because the driver was not an authorized driver.  Your personal insurance may cover it, then again it may not.  It depends on your insurance policy.  If your insurance policy doesn't cover it, the other person can sue you and/or your family member for damages.  P.S.:  Don't be surprised if you lose your job over this -- letting someone else drive a company car that was given to you is a BIG no-no.

  2. When most employees receive a company car, they sign a letter or affidavit stating that they will not allow any non-company personnel to drive the vehicle.

    Did you sign anything?

Did your company verbally inform you of the responsibilities of using a company car?

You might want to speak with a lawyer.

  4. The company insurance will not cover the accident.  You will be paying out of pocket.

  5. Unless you have SPECIFIC PERMISSION from your employer for family members to drive your assigned company car, they are not covered.  If the person driving the car was not a company employee, and is not covered by the company's insurance policy, then you're on the hook for damage to both vehicles.

You may also be subject to disciplinary action from your employer, including the possibility of losing your job!

  6. My hubby does, too.  If I got caught, he could get fired.  Check your contract.
