Company ask me to do other people jobs?

The company I work layoff many people now they want me to do 2 other people job, is it legal, what can I do

  1. You should be glad you are still standing. its people like you who never say thank you for what you have but always complain for what you are missing.  this is your chance to really prove yourself and show the management they made the right decision by keeping you.


  2. Yes it is . You will do as they ask or you may be the next one going down the road and they will have someone doing there job plus yours.

  3. If you have a contract that states your specific duties then yes, it would violate your contract.  But if your employment is "at will" which occurs with most companies, and is more likely considering they are laying off people, then there is nothing you can do.  I'm sorry.  

    If you are overworked you can try complaining to the Department of Labor or another regulatory commission, but your best bet would be to find another position.  

    It probably does not feel like it now, but you may consider yourself lucky, you were not on the chopping block.   They may be trying to get rid of the weakest links, ie most unproductive people, and will hire more people in the future.  That makes the load a bit to bare for you now but that means that they like you and are willing to keep you as part of their new improved team.  This is what my company just did, and now things are working much better.
