Company at South Dakota makes difference in darts
If the success story of the 27th annual South Dakota State Dart Tournament is to be considered, it cannot be completed without mentioning the razor sharp darts shots of Aramando Iron Elk, who was able to create holes in the dartboard with his bulls eye shots.
In the final encounter that took place between Reliance Bar NC Aces and Shipwreck Sharpshooters, Armando had the responsibility of lowering the score of his team from 501 to straight level zero.
With the help of his teammates, comprising Clint Eastman, Rose Mendoza and Fidel Mendoza, he was able to nail it before their opponents.
According to their teammate, Clint Eastman, "It was good. It was tough, but we hung in there. We weren't even expected to make it out of the first and second rounds".
"It's all about winning championships and bragging rights," he further added.
It is important to mention here that the team began to take part in the darts event more than a decade ago.
Furthermore, the team also holds the honour of taking part in the nationally organised tournament more than four times in all these years.
Despite losing the match and settling for the second position, Sharpshooters were happy enough to settle for it and compete in the event next year to ensure their third consecutive appearance.
One of their players, Matt Jeratowski claimed, "We didn't lose a game until now".
It is important to mention here that Sharpshooters must not be upset, since they have been able to secure an appreciable position for their career out of the 16-team divisions that actually took part in the event.
The extensive series of events that began to take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Centre comprised of 640 four-person teams, 431-double teams and another 592 single players competing in the event.
According to the Tournament Director Britt Bruner, "About one-fourth of the players every year are new".
This shows that, with the increasing passage of time, interest of American youngsters in darts is increasing unprecedentedly.
New competitions are being organised regularly in order to streamline and channelise in exploring the talent of darts among American youngsters.
