Question:

Company that won't pay local travel expense?

i was notified that i will require 1 hr driving to a site maybe twice a month for this new job. that's after i started working, and i was told that. they won't pay any expense (toll/gas/mile/parking/ company insurance) to drive back/forth. i assume (im salary) hours took for trip and work related things would be deducted from 8 hours/day deal.

is this normal?

i want to bring this to a 'new' HR mgr who probably can't do much.

what do you think i should do? im sure i'll spend more than 8hr/day sometimes to get things done.

  1. Usually, most good companies will pay you mileage at the IRS rate (currently $.505/mile). The only catch is that you must deduct your normal commute each way.
