Compaq V4325 power issue

Question

I have a Compaq V4325 US laptop that keeps powering down unexpectedly. There is no warning it just turns off as if someone had flicked a switch. Sometimes the computer will not even complete booting before it turns off and there is no way to use the computer, at other times it can work for hours without issue.
