Compare and Contrast Hammurbi's rules to America's?

I Have a social studies exam on this, and it's trying to compare Hammurbi, the Harshest ruler of it's time in Ancient egypt,

so tell me.... How are americas rules and his alike and not alike?

  1. The death penalty was used for almost everything in Hammurabi's Code unlike America where you need to commit a capital crime like murder, kidnapping, or treason. But we still use the death penalty in most states. Hammurabi gave his people a chance to go before a judge to defend himself against an accusation like today.

    Instead of harboring escaped slaves like in Hammurabi's day, if someone aides a criminal today, they will be punished for that.

    All in all the Code of Hammurabi was written to protect it's people like the U.S. Constitution was written also to protect it's people. Hammurabi wasn't the ruler of ancient Egypt by the way.
