  1. Both budgies and cockatiels make great pets.  Budgies are cheaper, but smaller.  They can learn to talk, but don't count on it.  Cockateils are bigger more robust birds.  They can learn to whistle tunes.

I have never really gotten into cockateils, but I do love budgies so.  I love their chirps and scoldings, and their variety in song.  They don't sing like a canary, but make lots of soft noises when they "sing".   They are my favorite type of parrot.  If you decide on a budgie, try to get the youngest bird they have.  It takes a while to tame them down (unless handfed) but it is well worth it in the long run.  If you really want a tame bird, do NOT get a friend for it at the same time.  You will have time for that once yours is nice and tame.  You can look up "budgie" on YouTube for some great pet budgies and watch their antics.  You can also look up cockateils as well to see them in action.

  2. budgies are smaller and a little harder to tame but can be just as sweet i have three cockatiels are bigger and most are already hand tame when u buy them, male budgies can learn to say ALOT of words but male cockatiels can only say a few,  females dont really talk   check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/companion_p... for good guides on diff birds
