  1. It's tough to completely generalize...  living in Seattle and San Diego are completely different, just like living in Atlanta and Boston are completely different.  And living in rural or suburban areas is completely different from the cities.

    But in general:

Life on the East Coast can be "harder", but in that light is often more rewarding.  The pace is busier, the people are more intense, the weather is more variable, etc.

The West Coast is more laid back, less stressful and has more constant weather.  Plus, it's more likely to fall into the ocean after an earthquake.

People will VEHEMENTLY defend both lifestyles, because people are different.  I'm more goal and task oriented, and find the east coast (more specifically the BosWash corridor) to be a lot more fulfilling than the more "duuuuude...." lifestyle out west.

But those are also stereotypes, and you'll find a lot in common between the two when you get down to it.

Hope that helps!  (And don't forget the midwest!  Chicago is awesome too!)

  2. Kind of hard to compare and contrast something I have not experienced.

So will speak of what I know!

I live in the South West, I like it here because it is less INSANE compared to the BIG CITIES.

But the BEST , is living in Arizona, the weather here is better than the East.  There is no humidity to deal with, and we have LOVELY weather about 10 to 11 months of the year.

Hey SNOWBIRDS (that is what we call our Winter Visitors) they come here from all points EAST and NORTH to escape the SNOW.... they wear NO coats and SHORTS in 40 degree weather!  They think it is a HEAT wave compared to where they are from.  What does that tell you?!

Well that is my 2 cents worth!

  3. I lived in las Vegas for 10 years, and i lived in Orlando, FL for 3 years. I just moved back to vegas.  I'm 23 turning 24

    Comparison:

jobs - I make $15/hr our of a possible $20 here for a low level tech support job, there i made $10 out of a possible $12.  clerks make $8 in orlando, $10 in vegas.  Managers make 15~35/yr in orlando, 30~45/yr in vegas.

people - Vegas has conservative and liberal influence coming from california, utah, arizona and sorrounding states.  Also has a high mormon population.  Florida has a  more bigoted tone and generally southern and latin american influence coming from georgia carolina alabama, and surrounding states.  Friendly people in both places, better over all environment in vegas.

Land - vegas is a desert, however the western coast of u.s is generally green.  The east coast including florida seems to top the west when it comes to beautiful greenery, however nature is simply beautiful.  East coast has warm water vs the western.  More life in the warm water coasts, sharks etc.\

East coast != mountains, west coast = mountains.

I could go into more but don't feel like.  that's my experience though.

  4. OK. I'm in Sacramento and just moved from Southern Ohio.

It's busier here. I meet a lot of rude, pretentious people in my area. The cars are a lot nicer. There's always somewhere to go and something to do.

In Ohio people care about fashion and music more. It's very white-washed. We lived in a dry county. Religion plays a huge part in people's lives. The middle and high school kids were BRUTALLY mean.
