When checking my account balance, some transactions are debit and some are point of sale. I used my debit card for both kinds of transactions. What is difference(or definition) of point of sale and debit?

  1. Point of sale is when you sign for the purchase and debit is when you enter your PIN number at the register.  Debit is automatically taken out of your account (just like when you go to the ATM).  Point of sale is not automatically taken from your account and has to clear with the bank first.
