Compared to Alex Rodriguez, Yu Darvish will fit in the Texas Rangers – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels has stated that Yu Darvish fits in well to the club. The Rangers are pinning their hopes on the talented Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who is all set to fill the club’s roster for the coming season.
Daniels’ assertion was with reference to the questions on how different things will be from the one that the Rangers had experienced. Almost 12 years ago, the Rangers had signed one of the biggest contracts with Alex Rodriguez to an amount of over $250 million
for 10 years.
The signing of Rodriguez to such a high salary proved to be rather disappointing for the Rangers. The whole contract seemed an epic failure as far as the observers are concerned. But Jon Daniels, having gone past that experience says Darvish fits well into
the team as a player compared to Rodriguez.
"We added a quality young pitcher to add to the young pitchers that we already have," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We just look forward to him getting to Spring Training, getting acclimated to how we do things and move forward."
The team, he states, is all lined up now. If nothing else, last two years back-to-back World Series finals for the Rangers illustrate the ability of the team to compete at the highest level. The addition of Yu Darvish, the team manager Ron Washington says,
will be a way to move forward.
"Yu fits into this club better as far as a player," Daniels said. "Yu is just one of a number of young power-arm starters that we have who have had some success and are looking to get better. With Alex, the team was getting older and wasn't lined up as well
as this team is now."
Small doubt, if there is any, will be the almost impregnable defence of the Texas Rangers that has the potential to change the course of any and every game during the season. Yu Darvish, it goes without saying, will be instrumental in doing what the Texas
Rangers want to do with four other starters, Colby Lewis, Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and Neftali Feliz.
