  1. There is no way to know exactly how much damage there will be.  It does not seem to be as big as Katrina when you look at the satelite images on NOAA site.  Or well organised at the moment.  Gustav seems to be travelling quite fast as well, Katrina was slower, which gave her time to gain more strength.  But there is a lot of activity to the northeast side of the storm, which could mean a lot of  thunder storms and tornadoes. But it is still a powerful storm, and will pack a punch.  The storm surge could also cause a lot of problems. The levees were in such a state after Katrina (because for years the city had not spent money on them) that the engineers said it would take until 2011 to repair all 360 miles of them.  So it is quite possible they will be breached again.  At least the mayor of NO has not sat on his butt trying to make political gain out of it, like he did before Katrina.   I think he is doing a great job for the people this time.

I just pray everyone all along the Gulf coast stays safe.

  2. Nobody really knows how bad it will be, IF it hits New Orleans.  Right now, it's a catagory 4 storm.  Katrina was a catagory 3 storm, from what i've heard, and it still devastated the city, because of the broken levees.  It could weaken before tomorrow afternoon, when it's expected to hit.  They're saying that the storm surge could be 18 feet high.  ABCnews said WHERE it hits is the key. When Katrina hit, it hit to the east of N.O., and this storm is expected to hit to the WEST of the crescent city.  Hopefully it will weaken, and just be a tropical storm, and Homeland Security Chief Chertkoff says the evacuations will be lifted and people can go back home.  If you go to Yahoo's front page, you can track the storm.  It will show, on another page that opens, the speed of the storm as it reaches landfall.  At the end of the storm, by the 5th of September, the winds will be a whopping 34 miles per hour.  :)   Let's just all hope and pray that New Orleans escapes another devastating blow.

  3. always use your wisdom to figure out if you can sit on the purple chair.

  4. idk

it all depends on what cat it is.

if its a cat 4 like katrina yeah itll be the same if not more damage

b ut still never underestimate mother nature it can make a supprise turn to MS or TX and could lose or gain strength right before it hits....u never know.

  5. Nah it never was a Katrina scale hurricane, that was just Mayor Naigin's hype to get people out of the city.

Katrina was a Cat 5 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.......Gustav was only a Cat 3 hurricane in the gulf.

As it mades land Katrina was a strong Cat 3 hurricane.....Gustav is only a Cat 2.

Next time if a true "mother of all storms" threatens New Orleans....who's gonna take Mayor Naigan's word for it?

The US National hurricane centre got it right when they told the BBC.

    a couple of days ago.

"Eric Blake, from the US National Hurricane Center in Florida, told the BBC Mr Nagin may have overstated the size of the hurricane.

"I think that may be a bit of an exaggeration. I mean, they already had Hurricane Katrina, and right now this is no Hurricane Katrina. But we still think it will be a large and powerful hurricane and a significant threat."

I think the US hurricane center knows a bit more about hurricanes than Mayor Naigins!

  6. This hurricane is going to be a dud its over hyped

  7. I think wind damage will be worse.  I'd be surprised if the roof is still in tact at the Superdome.

  8. yup say good bye to new orleans. it will be under water by tomm nite

  9. I don't know if it will be more devastating, but I do know Bush and global warming will be blamed and the demon crats of Lousy anna will continute to show their impotence by blaming republicans, and the media will go along with it.

    Note to self:

A hurricane only kills blacks when a republican is in the white house

Homeless only exist when Republicans are in the whitehouse

Uninsured Healthcare only affects 43 million people when Republicans are in the white house

and so on and so on

  10. Gustav is going to tear apart new orleans, but not as much casualties.
