Comparing Food Prices?

Are there any websites that compare average food prices in the United States?

I realize that there have been long standing differences in food cost inflation and general costs based on geographic areas, but I find it interesting that in the two years since I moved just an hour away from my hometown the cost of the coffee I drink has gone up less than a dollar a bag back home as opposed to over two dollars more a bag where I am currently living.

We hear a lot about the cost of food going up because of the cost of fuel, but how has it affected areas like California which has a lot of growth in produce but skyrocketing fuel costs?

what gets me is there are hundreds of oil wells in Alberta Canada that have been capped so that we are forced to purchase our oil from the middle east...I think thats ridiculous...uncapp the wells and bring the cost down...d**n opec!!!

do a google search for "Consumer Price Index"

you will see that a portion of the index is on food. you can compare how much someone spent on food in 1980 relative to today.
