what is the main way that active transport differs from diffusion??

  1. Active transport requires energy (ATP).  Diffusion is passive (no energy required).


  2. yeah what the other guy said. In diffusion, particles are simply going from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration kind of like osmosis. In active transportation, the molecules tend to be going the opposite direction kind of like the NA+/K+ chain so the molecules bind with proteins (then with the help of ATP) gets transported to the other side.
