Comparison El Classico - David Villa vs. Gonzalo Higuain
There is not a shadow of a doubt that David Villa is a better striker than Gonzalo Higuain. No matter how many matches David Villa does not score in, he is the one who singlehandedly took the Spanish team to the final stages of the FIFA
World Cup 2010 with the help of his 5 goals that he scored in the tournament.
David Villa was the one who started to score goals for the Spanish side from the start of the tournament and after their dismissive performance against Switzerland. Villa made no mistake in finishing the ball into the net time and time
again and eventually became they saviour of Spain. It was obvious that with players like Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez playing behind him he would definitely score but there is simply no doubt that Villa is a one man show whenever it comes down to not
only one-on-one scoring but also long ranged efforts.
His goal against Sevilla was simply remarkable and that was simply nothing compared to what he is capable of doing. The Spanish goal scoring machine has the highest number of goals for the Spanish national team and there is a reason why
the Spanish coach prefers playing him up front rather than the Liverpool sensation Fernando Torres or the in-form Bilbao star Fernando Llorente who has been in extraordinary goal scoring form lately.
On the other hand, Gonzalo Higuain is a big match choker with quality of being an opportunistic striker. The Argentinean is often seen to be at the right place at the right time therefore he is often “stealing” the goals away from the
others. During the FIFA World Cup 2010, the hat trick that he managed to score was simply a gift to him from Lionel Messi who managed to hit the post and even though the ball was going in it was Higuain who tapped it in to claim the goal to himself. However,
there is definitely no doubt that he has the ability to finish the ball whenever he is inside the 18 yard box.
The only thing that separates these two players is the ambidextrous ability of David Villa. The Spanish striker can easily shoot with both his feet and he is equally strong with the right and the left foot. On the other hand, the Argentinean
mostly relies on his stronger right foot which is a disadvantage in terms of scoring goals as his left foot is basically useless and it is usually meant to receive the ball rather than delivering it.
David Villa has been in constant goal scoring form for the past four to five years while on the other hand Gonzalo Higuain is the one who is the ultimate opportunist and he is the one hiding behind the defensive walls to tap the ball in.
His quick feet help him reach the right place at the right time as he adapts well with the counter attacking techniques of Jose Mourinho.
