Comparison El Classico – Eric Abidal vs. Marcelo
There are very few left backs in the world who can do wonders; however, Eric Abidal and Marcelo though are among the world’s best team are not categorized under that category. The French international and the Barcelona full back Eric Abidal
has failed to impress during the past few games and it was seen that while playing as a centre back for the Catalan giants he has performed better rather than playing out wide in the left back position.
On the other hand, the Brazilian left back Marcelo is going to be tested during the El Classico as he is going to be standing against the Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi. Marcelo is definitely not very experienced and he is not an extraordinary
left back whenever it comes down to defending. However, the way he approaches the front line in order to cross the ball and scores goals is simply phenomenal.
Both the teams need a good left back as both of them are not at their best at the moment. However, if the Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola decides to play the former Inter Milan man Maxwell on the left flank, things might change. Maxwell
is better than Eric Abidal at the moment. He is young and experienced at the same time. The Brazilian full back has quick feet and he can make good runs forward in order to help the team in scoring goals. Moreover, Maxwell can also run back in order to help
the team defend as he is young and does not get tired early.
Eric Abidal was totally exploited by Jesus Navas while playing against Sevilla during the La Liga Campaign. Even though the Catalan giants won the game 5-1 it was still Jesus Navas who got the best out of Eric Abidal and he was often seen
cutting the Frenchman to cross the ball and it was definitely hard for Sergio Busquets to fall back on the left side whenever Eric Abidal found it difficult.
When El Classico is going to take place, Marcelo is going to be facing the Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi on the right flank but the Frenchman it is going to be another Argentinean youngster Angel Di Maria who has shown great form while
playing under Jose Mourinho. Angel Di Maria is often found scoring goals and assisting as well - most of the goals that Higuain scores are either assisted by Ozil or Angel Di Maria.
When both the Spanish giants are going to collide, it is definitely going to be a test for the left backs of both the teams. They both are the weakness of their side as Marcelo is good in attacking but he is very poor at defending. In
case Guardiola gives Lionel Messi a centre role and Pedro is played on the right flank, Marcelo is going to find it very hard to stop the Spaniard. On the other hand, the French full back Eric Abidal is going to be against Angel Di Maria or Cristiano Ronaldo
who are also simply deadly while playing for the Los Blancos.
