Comparison El Classico - Xavi Hernandez vs. Sami Khedira

Many people are going to argue that both these players play in a different position for the teams but there is no doubt that Jose Mourinho plays Khedira as a centre midfielder more than a holding midfielder. It is true that he is doing both the jobs at the
same time but Xavi Hernandez is also seen making a run back to help the team retain the ball in the midfield.
There is no doubt that the Barcelona man Xavi Hernandez is the best centre midfielder in the world. He makes the game look so simple and he simply makes sure that each and every pass is delivered to the right man at the right time. However, during the game
against Real Madrid he might lag the same momentum that he had during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and this is because the Los Blancos have the pace to block him down.
Xavi Hernandez is a player who needs his time on the ball to drop in the perfect ball for his strikers and with players like Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Xabi Alonso playing in the holding midfield position it is definitely going to be hard for him to put
on the same show. The 30 year old Catalan is tired of playing and there is no reason why he shouldn’t be. He has been playing for the Spanish side and also his club for two consecutive years and he definitely needs a rest as he is coming of age where he cannot
run a lot; even though he is the player who travels most of the ground for the Catalan giants. For the past two years it has been this man who has dominated the “El Classico” and he can be known as a specialist as he can totally change the cause of the game
with his amazing passing technique. He plays simple passes throughout the game and provides the team with this one killer ball that can change the whole scenario for the other team. Last season, he managed to provide Pedro Rodriguez and Lionel Messi with two
killer balls which were later turned into goal.
On the other hand, Khedira has a different job for the Los Blancos. The newly signed German midfielder did an extraordinary job during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and he is doing a wonderful job while playing under Jose Mourinho as well. He has a strong foot
and he can easily win the ball in the midfield to retain possession. His job is to circulate the ball in the midfield so that the wingers and strikers can take advantage and make good runs forward which can turn into goals.
Even though he is still learning his ways in the Spanish La Liga, he has still managed to make some impact in Real Madrid and that is the reason why he has managed to make his way up to the starting 11 even though Lasana Diara is sitting on the bench who
is definitely more experienced than him but it is Sami Khedira who is Mourinho’s first choice.
