  1. Smile and nod.

And then remind her of what a jerk she was when she needs someone to take care of her in her old age.

  2. I can relate to your situation.  I also have a mother-in-law that sometimes speaks out of turn, and yes I am often compared to my much younger sister-in-law.  To be honest, at first it really bothered me.  I often allowed my feelings to be extremely hurt.  However, I decided to put on my big girl panties and deal with it.  I am a grown woman who loves her husband and I also know that I am a wonderful mother.  I've decided that if my mother-in-law feels the need to give her opinions, then I to can tell it like it is.  I don't go out of my way to be rude, but I do let her and my sister-in-law  know how I feel about there rude and ignorant behavior.  Life is short.  Be happy with the life God has blessed you with.  Just know that you are special, and your husband made the choice of marrying you.  Once your in-laws understand that you are not going to put up with there rude behavior, they will back off.

    Good luck, and God Bless.

  3. I'm wondering what, if anything, your husband says or thinks about this situation....Seems strange to me that he doesn't step in and tell his mother and sister-in-law to back off.  Of course, you married him, not his family, but it's always nicer if you get along with in-laws.  Sounds like they are just very shallow and frankly, not very nice.  Interesting that your MIL throws in "God fearing," since that implies she considers herself and other DIL to be Christians.  The hallmarks of Christianity being  love, gentleness, patience, acceptance, kindness, meekness, etc. (as in the example of JC), so obviously she is a major hypocrite as well.  You know what I'd do.  Avoid.  Avoid.  Avoid.

  4. IT is their problem.  Do not let it be yours.
