Question:

Comparisons between Turbo Trainers and Rollers?

by  |  earlier

I'm thinking of investing in either a stationary turbo trainer or a set of rollers for training over the winter.

- What would be more beneficial?

- Which would require more maintenance?

- Is a more expensive set of rollers really worth it? - What is being upgraded?

- Just some general pros and cons and general opinions on either would be helpful.

Thanks!

  1. It's very reliable stable and doesn't need much maintenance at all. I have one and very happy about it if the wheather is really bad

  2. Rollers provide a more accurate feel as if your are riding on the road.  None really require any maintenance.  I use a Blackburn Ultra trainer and like it a great deal, its quiet, and it has progressive resistance, meaning that the faster you spin, the more resistance occurs  Also, you can swap out the bearings and create even more resistance.  Both are quiet, however the Blackburn takes up less space.
