  1. The info below is from Northeast State website.  It shows what that school does regarding student placement on the basis of Compass test scores.

    "New First-Time Freshmen

        * Students 21 and older are required to take all three parts of COMPASS:  Writing Skills, Algebra, and Reading.

        * Students 20 and younger with an  ACT sub-score of 18 or less in math are required to take the COMPASS Algebra test to determine which developmental mathematics classes, if any, will be required. A sub-score of 18 or less in English and/or reading places students into developmental courses and students have the option of taking the COMPASS Writing Skills and/or COMPASS Reading test to attempt to place in a higher level course.

        * Students who believe they are under prepared for college-level coursework may elect to take the COMPASS test regardless of ACT/SAT scores or transfer credit.

    Transfer Students:

        * Students who have previously attended college must wait for all college transcripts to be evaluated by the Office of Admissions and Records before scheduling a date/time for COMPASS. The COMPASS Writing Skills and Reading tests are not required when students have a "C" grade in college-level English and COMPASS Algebra is not required when students have earned a "C" grade in a college-level mathematics course."

Perhaps these sources will help you understand what your enrollment options might be at your school.
