What's your take on it? Do you think they should grant her freedom or should they keep her locked up?

  1. Lock her up and let her curl up and DIE

  2. Keep her locked up.

  3. Nothing to lose makes for a more dangerous person (no!).

  4. She did that 40 years ago. Let her out.

  5. She knew what she was doing when she was doing it. She has no right to leave prison for STABBING a PREGNANT woman. They should just kill her lol

  6. I really see no worth in choosing either avenue. She has 1 amputated leg, and has been in jail for 37 yrs. She was supposed to die there. Looks like she will. She can't even feed herself, as the acticle says.

I'm sure releasing her to family members for 6 mos. would just be more of the same. Except it would give her some dignity. Sorry, that's more than she gave Sharon Tate.

That's just my view on Susan, not all Manson's followers.

She's been married twice while in jail also, and has had 'conjugal visits'.. coupled with showing no remorse for the longest time.. sorry.

  7. I've noticed some of the comments about how she was originally sentenced to die for her involvement in the murders. However, it should be pointed out that even with the death penalty, it would have taken years for her to be executed if at all. People in prison on death row are more likely to die from old age than be executed. That's because they can delay their execution dates almost indefinitely. Still, I'm glad that she wasn't put to death. That's because many people would have seen her as some kind of heroine or a twisted form of a folk hero. She would have seen herself as being a martyr and someone who was willing to die for her cause, whatever it was. Even today, Charles Manson himself has admirers and regularly gets fan letters in prison.

  8. keep her locked up. I have no sympathy for her or what they did.

  9. They should give her as much compassion as she gave Sharon Tate.

  10. The very idea is an oxy-moron .

  11. She can barely put together sentences, she is paralyzed on one side, brain tumor, amputated leg.  I say let the family take care of her - terminal patients in that condition are not easy to care for.  Yes, I think they should grant her compassionate leave.  At this point, prison is no longer punishment - it is just a holding area until death.

  12. She had a h**l of alot of Sympathy for a very pregnant Sharon Tate did'nt she?  She had so much sympathy she cut out her unborn child.  Dont forget she was scheduled to be executed, but thanks to the California Supreme court her sentance was changed to life without the possiblity of parole.

Good for California to keep there end of the bargain.

By reading the article, start making the coffin, cause that is the only way she is going home.

  13. she needs to be kept locked up  that was really a bad thing she did

  14. Well, Atkins is terminally ill with brain cancer.  The "compassionate release" will only be a technical one since she will be bed-ridden in a hospital regardless.  She's terminally ill, has had a leg amputated, is reportedly paralyzed on one side of her body and can barely put together a sentence so she will never experience "freedom" until maybe when she passes.  The main issue in this debate is who is going to absorb the cost of her medical bills.  I believe if she is granted a release her husband or other family member would be responsible for the bills.  If not, then the state is.  So I say release her to the custody of a family member.  The California taxpayers have been flipping the bill for Atkins for nearly 40 years now.  Let someone else do it.  In her condition she's certainly not a danger to society.  In fact for years I've believed that Atkins had been rehabilitated and was not a danger to anyone.  However I never supported her being paroled because of the brutality and senselessness of the murders and the number of victims (she was convicted of eight counts of first degree murder).

  15. She got plenty of compassion when they commuted her death sentence to life in prison which means you get out in a timber box.

Lets not forget she stabbed a pregnant woman to death and then drank her blood and the baby never had a chance to live.

  16. No they should not grant her freedom, nor should any of the people involved with this horrible crime. This woman was only sorry she got caught, and would have committed more horrible crimes had she not been convicted. She had a thirst for blood and defended her actions by using drugs as a scapegoat. It is my understanding that it costs quite a bit of cash to keep this woman locked up in the hospital, but the money is well spent considering the government hands out limit free credit cards to politicians for spa treatments.

  17. Dude she carved a big "Swastika" into her forehead with a razor blade - I think that carving a big Swastika into your forehead might be an indication that you're unable to be amongst the masses.

So NO, it would be more "compassionate" to keep her in prison, so that she doesn't start carving other stuff onto her forehead.

Buncha creeps, those Manson girls........ I'm not fooled by their blissed-out smiles in those old photographs....... too much LSD...... peyote..... Manson-tool............ too much of SOMETHING, I'll say that much..........

  18. Keep her locked up. She participated in the most heinous of crimes. Too bad for her. There are thousands of prisoners rotting in jail with lesser crimes who are not granted leaves even for their dying children or parents.

  19. The idea that "society" is afraid of a paralyzed, one-legged bed-ridden person is scary in itself.

She can't even sit up in a bed. LOL And the world is afraid she will get out.

  20. Kill her.

  21. She's already out of prison in a hospital bed, so the only benefit would be increased visitation rights from her family.

    Big whoop.

  22. A very great name you have! I love it!

As to this murderer, keep her locked up. Remember Sharon Tate and what they did to her among others.
