I'm looking to get something to accompany my fire belly toad in a ten gallon tank, with roughly 3-3 1/2 inches of water, rocks, plants, good filtration

I want something friendly, and something i can hold

I'm aware of anoles, but i'm not sure if the tank is right for that

any other ideas ?

  1. well you cant exactly hold it but petsmart used to sell firebelly toads and firebelly newts in the same cage. if you are going to keep them in the same cage you wont find many water animals that liked to be handled. if you want another small pet try a hamster or mouse. mice are as cheap as $1.10 at some places.

  2. you can mix fire bellied toads with green anoles, Jamaican anoles, spiny reed frogs, gold dust day geckos and green tree frogs, we have fire bellied toads in the same tank as tree frogs and they live quite happily together, the toads stay on the bottom and the frogs go to the top so there is always some activity going on and all the Viv is in use so no wasted space.
