Competition subwoofer?

I have recently purchased a type-R Alpine subwoofer. But i've heard from people that it is a competition sub, meaning its not for everyday use? or would it be fine to use everyday?

no its fine for everyday use by comp its just a large woofer meaning it will be loud

The Type-R is definetly not a competition sub.  I would say it is the other way, meaning it is an everyday use sub and not a competition sub.

In a properly built enclosure that sub will sound great.  It can give you both good SQ and SPL.
