Complaint to be filed against Juan Manuel Lopez for accusing against Roberto Ramirez – Boxing News
President of the Association of Professional Boxing Officials, Nelson Vazquez has taken notice of Juan Manuel Lopez’s harsh comments for referee Roberto Ramirez in an interview to Showtime. Juanma called Ramirez and his son gamblers, adding that they should
not be referees.
According to Nelson Vazquez, a formal complaint will be launched with the president of Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico, Dommys Delgado Berty over Juanma’s act. Moreover, Nelson went ahead to call Lopez’s comments over Ramirez ‘sickening, frivolous, and
defamatory’. He further said that Ramirez has a proven record of honest. Vazquez further revealed that Juanma had made the same comments for Ramirez’s son when he first met Salido in the ring. It should be noted here that Juan Manuel Lopez had his career’s
first defeat at the hands of Orlando Salido. The rematch, which took place this Saturday, brought in Lopez’s second career defeat.
A statement from Vazquez read, “We aren’t satisfied. This is the same thing. They’ve already apologized, but the comments were made and have already spread around the world. All fans of boxing worldwide are aware of this. They are bad losers and we have
to stop these situations.”
Even referee Roberto Ramirez lashed out on Lopez saying that he is not satisfied with an ‘email apology’ and that he wants Juanma to apologise on a global platform. According to Roberto, Juanma made the accusations on an international platform that is viewed
by millions around the globe. He added that the damage to his rapport has been made on an international and national level and an email apology cannot change that. Ramirez said that he is keen on filing a complaint against Juanma but he surely wants an official
apology.
On the other hand, no updates from Juanma’s camp have been received yet. Most likely, Juanma is repenting right now over the allegations he made on Ramirez. Juan Manuel Lopez was frustrated after the loss, and instead of accepting the defeat, he went onto
blame the referee for his shortcomings. He showed no respect for the sport as well as for the officials, which is why most of the members are irked with his comments.
