Question:

Complete Blood Count question...?

I was just wondering, is it possible for a complete blood count (CBC) to show normal levels in the results when a patient is in later stages of cancer? Or would the results be abnormal, such as a high/low red or white cell count - or an abnormal platelet count? I know nothing is 100%, but what is the most likely result? Thanks guys, just curious.

  1. It would depend on what type of cancer the person has. It is possible to have normal values on a cbc if the patient has a malignancy that does not involve the bone marrow, interfere with hematopoiesis, or cause bleeding.
