How many liters of oxygen gas measured at 22 C and 763 torr are consumed in the complete combustion of 2.55 L of dimethyl ether measured at 25 C and 748 torr?

  1. ok, so you have to write out the equation - dimethyl ether +oxygen=water+carbon dioxide

    and then balance it

    use the complete gas law

    pv=nRT

    pressureXvolume=moleXRconstant(lookit up on the net - different values for different pressure measurements)Xtemperature

    or try

    c=n/M

    find mole of the reactand

    use molar ratios to find mole of oxygen, then, find molar mass or just mass using the complete gas law and find the mass of oxygen consumed

    just write out all the givens and the asked for variables and work with the formulas

    MeOMe +  3 O2 ->  2CO2 + 3H2O

    [C2H6O]

    Take your V, T, P data for MeOMe and find n, the number of moles.

    Equation says that for each mole of MeOMe, you need 3 moles of O2.

    Take your n, T and P data for oxygen and find liters.
