Complete story of quarter-finals of AVC Continental Women’s Beach Volleyball (part 2)
The first set was kicked off with convincing serves from both sides. It looked as if both teams were prepared for the clash. Nonetheless, Chinese Taipei saw very strong adversary in the form of Kamoltip Kulna and Yupa Phokrongploy. Thailand’s side hit prolific
shots and tried to take the opponents under their influence. For this purpose, they hit the ball from different angles and found rare gaps in the opponents’ half. Thailand was able to build a lead after the first technical timeout. Chinese Taipei put up valiant
effort to penetrate Thailand’s spikes but they lagged behind. Thai hotshots stretched the gap of points and hit the finish line at 21-16.
The loss of first set put a huge impact on the Chinese Taipei side. They changed their game strategy and struggled with their score. On the other hand, charged up Thailand ladies brought more rage in their attack. They hit outstanding cut-shots and created
more trouble for C.T. Kou Naihan of Thailand was very particular about the length of her serves. Chinese Taipei’s players couldn’t swiftly dive and take the ball at short lengths. Moreover, they hit too many illegal shots. The result was obvious that Thailand
secured the second set with a score of 21-14. Thailand clinched the berth in the semi-final with the 2-0 win over Chinese Taipei in the quarter-final match on Friday, 23rd October, 2010.
Kazakhstan vs. Thailand 2-0 (22-20, 21-12)
The team of Kazakhstan achieved a great milestone to pave its way to the quarter-finals of the AVC Continental Beach Volleyball Championship in Haikou, China. Kazakhstan was represented by the dynamic duo of sixth-seeded Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova.
They beat Vanatu’s Miller and Henriette Latika in quarter-final qualifying match and earned a berth in the quarter-final with Thailand’s Usa Tenpaksee-Jarunee Sannok on Friday, 23rd October, 2010.
The match was top-notch competition between two teams. Thailand had the exceptionally strong start to the quarter-final match. They produced commanding serves and pushed the opponents behind the attack line. Kazakhstan’s duo put huge effort to raise their
score and better status against Thailand. Both sides were quick to attack each other with deadly spikes and killing aces. The score soared up with a close difference of points. The team changed sides and discussed different strategies during the timeouts.
The fans thoroughly enjoyed the suspense which was building up as the game moved to the end. After the second technical timeout, Kazakhstan threw the ball in Thailand’s half aggressively. They hit confident shots and finally killed Thailand’s shot to end
the first set with 22-20 victory.
The victory put Kazakhstan’s pair in a great mood and started the second set with early lead over Thailand. The perfect jump-serves helped them dominate the other side. Thailand lost momentum and committed too many un-forced ball-reception errors. The situation
got bitter when Kazakhstan totally barred them to score any points. The good chemistry between Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova enabled them to influence the challenger side. The two partners perfectly complimented each other and didn’t allow Thailand
to raise head in the game. Kazakhstan added quick points in the score and took it to the verge of victory.
They continued with success and took full charge of the operations in game. Thailand fell back, couldn’t stop Kazakhstan to capture second set and claimed match victory. Kazak side finished the second set at 21-12 and
Japan vs. China (China got injury)
Japan’s ShinakoTanaka and Sayaka Mizoe were scheduled to take on Ying Huang and Yuan Yue of China in the quarter-final match but Japan got semi-final berth in a dramatic way. China’s team couldn’t appear in the quarter-final on account of injury, which enabled
Japan to play in the semi-final of the Continental Beach Volleyball Championship.
So at the end of the day, following teams settled for the semi-finals:

China – Xue Chen/Zhang Xi Japan- ShinakoTanaka/Sayaka Mizoe Kazakhstan- Tatyana Mashkova/Irina Tsimbalova Thailand- Kamoltip Kulna/Yupa Phokrongploy
