Question:

Completely ridiculous law?

It's against the law to not wear a seat-belt in my state. I think the law is completely bogus. It's MY life, I am responsible for myself. If i want to take the risk of not wearing one, i think it should be completely within my rights to do so. They might as well ticket you for riding a motorcycle or school bus, because last time i checked, they don't even have seat-belts!! Is anyone else frustrated by these "limit the peoples freedoms for their own good" type laws?

  1. I do agree with your opinion, personally. I am strongly against the government trying to control my life,  especially if it is not putting others in danger. On the other hand, it's probably something we should all do anyways, so I can't be TOO strongly against the law itself. Do you agree with that? But yes, I couldn't agree with you more on that level. Thank you! Because whenever i bring that up with friends/family/co-workers, they all tell me I am crazy.

  2. Enough with this "personal freedom" c**p. If by not wearing a seat belt and getting squashed like a rodent is you idea of freedom than go ahead..don't wear your seat belt. But do remember, that if you fly out of your vehicle in the event of an auto accident and fall on and kill somone, be certain that they will have the freedom to sue your bum.

  3. By not wearing a seatbelt, you may become a projectile in the event of a crash and endanger OTHER people's lives.  Buckle up.

  4. I live in Illinois and we also have  a seat belt law, if you are not from Il.

I like that law. It has saved many people if I am not mistaken, people who are glad that were forced to wear a belt.

I do think that people should have their own say on their life, however, I think that was taken away when people started to drink and drive and kill innocente people.

I believe on the road its not your driving that you should be worried about. You know what kind of driver you are. It is the people on the road that you should be worried about. There are alot of reckless people out there who will take your life.

Please buckle up buddy, no one wants you to leave this world too early.

  5. Wear the belt.  It has saved my life once already.

  6. Common sense tells me there's a reason for not having a seat belt on a motorcycle  Same with a bus.

Bogus or not, a law is a law. And when you live in society, we must follow the laws, whether we agree with them or not.

It's just like the warning label ( don't use near water ) on a hair dryer. People are stupid.

  7. I agree

  8. I strongly support the law.  It's there to protect you, just like the speed limit.

  9. If the only person affected by your decision not to wear a belt then I'd agree with you, but you're not.

The additional injuries you sustain through not wearing one are paid for, one way or another, by many people. If you have medical insurance then the other people in your insurance pool are paying them. If you don't then the hospital is paying for them. If you miss time off work then the government loses out on the taxes you would have paid, and you may, if your injuries are severe, end up on welfare unable to work.

  10. Sure, you should have your freedom of choice. How about we pass a law  making it illegal for any insurance company to pay for injuries sustained or exacerbated because of failure to use reasonable safety equipment? That way, the insurance companies won't have to pay for suicidal idiots, and the rest of us will have lower rates for using reasonable care.
