Compliance Officer landed the Ashley T Cole, and extended his unbeaten record to 4 in 4 at the Belmont Park
Building up to the $100,000 Ashley T Cole, the question was, will Compliance Officer has his leg over Pocket Cowboys in the Ashley Cole the way he showed him the door in the West Point Handicap at Saratoga on 18 August, 2011.
The answer to that question is “yes”.
Compliance officer showed his true affinity at Belmont Park, to win his second consecutive stakes' race, outrunning his rival, Pocket Cowboys, to hit the wire 3 ½ lengths ahead of him.
The son of Officer out of Purple Hills by Dynaformer, Compliance Officer continued his ascension with his fourth straight win since he got claimed by the La Marca Stable.
In the beginning of his hot streak, Compliance Officer participated in a couple of allowance races, with six or seven furlongs of distances to cover, but he showed he could run farther than that and he proved it in his last two starts.
In the West Point Handicap, Compliance Officer ran to cover the distance of 1 1/16 miles and did it in 1 minute and 44.40 seconds.
This time around it was a bit farther than 1 1/16 miles, as the Ashley Cole was run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles, which the 5-year-old gelding completed in a fast 1 minute and 51.50 seconds.
In the Ashley T Cole, trained by Bruce Brown Compliance Officer under Alex Solis broke well from the gate, and then got pulled back into fourth place.
Writingonthewall in front was setting fractions of 25.55 seconds for the quarter mile mark and then he reached four furlongs in 49.12 seconds.
Uncle T Seven made a premature move from behind after six furlongs had gone, and he slid past Compliance Officer to take his fourth position, pushing him back to fifth.
Uncle T Seven drifted toward the rail at the far turn, while Alex Solis guided Compliance Officer three wide at the same turn, and with minor encouragement, Compliance Officer bolted past opponents with blinding pace to the lead.
The 5-year-old Scott Schwartz trained Pocket Cowboys, rolled in for second, and finished 5 lengths over Minnie Punt, who came in third.
