Complicated problem no one can figure out... 2004 Dodge Neon?

I have a 2004 Dodge Neon (automatic transmission) with about 74,000 miles. My service engine light came on about 6 months ago, but it still ran perfect so I ignored it. About a week ago, I was driving home and i heard my gears shift strangely the next thing i knew, my gear was almost like it was stuck. I couldn't go any faster than the gear I was in. I had to pull over and shut the car off in order to fix the problem. It did this to me 3 more times that night. I took it straight to a transmission specialist. They said my transmission was running good, only there was a computer code(P0562) that indicated the engine was emitting a low voltage that was causing the transmission to run funny. So i took it to an auto mechanic, who got the same code. He replaced my battery, checked the alternator and all the connections, but couldn't find the problem. This caused the light to go off, but after about 30 mins of driving it came back on and immediantly repeated the previous problem. i'm clueless

  1. Well.................First you ignored it for 6 month! 2 maybe 3 weeks OK. Motor Mount(s) can cause this by letting the Engine move and Damage wiring, Brake Ground Straps/Wires, Could have Shorted out the ECM/ECU and not allowing Alternator to the Battery. "Dealer or God Auto-Electric Shop ASAP!"

  2. 1.  mechanic took you for a ride on the battery.

    2.  Mechanic didn't know what he was doing

    3.  I stuck this in my codes and came back with a generic-System Voltage Low-So I'm assuming that equates to a bad battery, don't think so.

    4.  You need to go to a different mechanic because it sounds like there is some low voltage causing transmission to act erratically.  A good mechanic should be able to find this pretty fast and I hope you get some good answers on these questions, if not get to a better mechanic.

  3. got to be a sensor on tranny when you disconnet a battery the lite will clear unless you have a code call a dealer ask them the code

  4. You probably better have it checked out by you dealer, i'm sorry but when it comes to dodge's they are complicated.  Only thing I can think of is the solenoid pack on the tranny.  Might be the electrical problem there.

  5. i am having the exact same problem with my 04 neon...had it diagnosed which came back showing a bad knock sensor and cam shaft sensor. im looking at having those replaced on mon. a weird thing though is that my car hasn't done it in a while, then it will start doing it again. idk.

  6. i l0oks like your transmmision its goin bad or something around it this ppl couldnt of check your transmission witout opeing unless the got xray vision lol it sound to me like the grears are slippin like its not goin any more

now the light could be anything from your gas cap to your oil change

  7. that happened to me with my dodge neon as well it sounds like the engine mount broke... or it could be a bad ground for the transmission..... there could be an electrical short have them check out wiring for the tranny ecu
