Complications soaring as MLB decide two one-game playoffs in 2102- MLB News
Experts believe that further complications might hurt the game if Major League Baseball insisted on a new two one-game playoffs for 2012 to compensate more teams in order to play another round.
Many things are involve that are still very complex to understand on a larger picture as the general public is still interested. The MLB authorities are in favour of opening up a slight cushion for rather low ranked teams in order to qualify for the postseason. They are still looking influential to call all the stakes holders to turn this new rule into practice next season, probably in the next week or so.
Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is the key man behind for bringing forward this late concern where more teams will have a chance to play in the elevated postseason. Earlier in a meeting he said, “I really believe we’ll have the (extra) wild card for this year, Clubs really want it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an issue that the clubs want more than to have the extra wild card.”
He added, “We’re working on dates right now, it looks to me like we’ll have it, because I’ve told everybody we have to have it. It will be exciting. A one-game playoff and it will start the playoffs off in a very exciting manner.”
About these late concerns raised by baseball experts, one particular source said, "I really don't know if this is going to get done." The MLB is taking a large initiative towards more drastic change in wild card entries. If applied this rule, an extra team will be going to playoffs next season. All MLB owners will be gathering in the coming week to cast their respective votes for this late initiative.
However, those who are opposed to this potential change in wild card entries know that the league will be different from now onwards. The World Series schedule, Division Championships and many other related issues will have to change. The season timings, dates and training intervals will also have to change as soon as this new rule is implemented.
