On the back of my analog CRT (SDTV) TV, i have three connections; Moniter Out - For TV on my pc connection

DVD - For Connecting DVD player to my tv

Composite - To connect my VCR to TV

I was wondering if my pc would connect via component connection on the DVD area?

  1. It's not clear if you have component connectivity on your TV, so excuse me if I start with something you already know.

It all comes down to whether you have the right jacks on your CRT TV and PC.

Component is easy to recognize -- there are (usually) 3 RCA jacks, colour coded red, green and blue (or you may see BNC connectors on professional equipment). They should be labelled similar to the picture at the first link.

If you have these on your TV you can connect using component (3 matched cables); if not, you can't. But you also need component on your PC, or an adapter to allow the connection.

For more info on component see the 2nd link.

BTW, if you don't have component you may have S-video ... which would also give better results than composite.

See the 3rd link for pictures of common a/v connectors.

The last link is to a selection of computer - component adapters ... assuming you have a component input on your TV, you will need one of these to connect your PC.

Sorry if this answer is a bit convoluted but I don't know what you are familar with and what you are not ... so I threw it all in the mix! Hope it helps.
