Component to hdmi?

I'm looking for a component to hdmi cable and can't seem to find one.

Would component to hdmi be better than just component to component? It's for a reg. dvd player to a hdtv.

A cheap reasonable price one.

  1. Component to HDMI isn't available (and if it were would be ~$200 since it would involve analog to digital conversion) since that would allow digital recording of HD video ... and the studios don't want you to be able to do that.

For a normal DVD player component will give you virtually an identical picture to HDMI. In fact most HT installers use component instead of HDMI (unless the customer insists) since it is less prone to problems.  I don't advise the cheapest version of any cable, but the link is to one for $5 if you want to go cheap. An alternate source is Monoprice.com

  2. there is no such thing.

cables are either component to component or HDMI to HDMI.

Hdmi gives you the best overall picture and sound with component cables giving you quality just a notch below HDMI.

  3. HDMI for sure! Suuperior quality!
