Composition of Functions?

Question

how do you know whether to plug in g(x) or f(x) first?

I always thought if it's f o g(x) you plug in g first. but I saw some problems on the internet that aren't like that.

plug in g first, that's correct.

f o g(x) = f( g(x) ).

Think of the "o" circle as being the big f() circle.

You are correct. When it is f o g(x) you start with the one closer to the x. Then you plug that answer into the f(x).
