  1. anywhere you have room place all your organic waste.  You should add soil from time to time and mix everything up with a pitchfork.  Water is added as necessary.  Tea is the liquid that comes off compost.  I place my organic mix in a garbage can just before winter (you can do it in summer if you have rain) then just leave it uncovered all winter.  Come spring I have a can full of tea and a lot of good mulch.  The tea gives my plants a good boost in the spring.

  2. I use an old garbage can, with holes drilled in the sides.  When I spend more time with it, I make sure it is sufficiently watered and aerate it from time to time, but it also breaks down without my help, but a little more slowly.  When spring comes around, I just dump it in a pile and let it finish decomposing while I start a new batch.  To make compost tea, you simply put the compost in a burlap sack and submerge it in water, and it's even better if you use something to aerate it.  There are tons of web sites that can tell you how to do that, and some people swear by compost tea.  Although I don't do much with my own compost, it's a fantastic way of getting rid of yard and kitchen waste without paying to send  it to the landfill, and I have plenty of sources for cheap, finished compost.

  3. Compost piles are really easy to do. I like to use a container to keep it all together, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to. They can smell, so I wouldn't keep it too close to your house. Clear out the grass in an area, whatever size you want your pile to be. Then put a layer of wet newspaper. On top of that, just start putting all that good nutrient rich garbage and there you have it. Fruit and veggie peels, newspaper, eggshells, coffee grounds, tea bags ( with the string removed), just about any food that hasn't been cooked in or containing animal matter.

To make compost tea, steep compost in water, like in a metal garbage can, in the sun for about 5 days. It will smell really nasty when you open that can. Do NOT use it on any edible part of your plants, its best as a root wash. Good luck=)

P.S. anything in the tea that doesn't dissolve can be put back in your compost bin/pile.

You can make this and then what the bottom thing catches is the tea.
